Hi readers, and welcome back to Week Five, Entry Five of Be Brazen w/ Tae.
Today, we’re switching things up. Instead of starting with key terms like in previous entries, I want you to grab your journal, open to a fresh page, and date it.
Now, take a deep breath and reflect on the following questions:
- What is one habit you practice daily that makes you feel more confident?
- How do you usually start your mornings? Does it set a positive tone for your confidence throughout the day?
- What is one negative habit you would like to replace with a confidence-boosting habit?
- If you could commit to one new habit for the next 30 days to boost your confidence, what would it be?
Take your time, be honest with yourself, and let these prompts guide you toward self-awareness and growth. I would love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to share them in the comments.
Why These Questions Matter
I wanted to ask these questions because when I began my healing journey back in July 2024, I never considered how my daily habits contributed to my confidence or happiness. That perspective shifted when I started identifying areas in my life that I wanted to improve. For example, I aspired to have clearer skin, a more toned body, healthier eating habits, and a more positive mindset.
Once I recognized these areas, I created an action plan. To cultivate a more positive mindset, I committed to four daily habits:
- Listening to uplifting podcasts such as Black Girl Bible by Janai Imani or Hustle in Faith by LaTosha Johnson
- Reading a Bible study entry and reflecting on its meaning
- Journaling about my emotions, whether in the moment or after reflecting on how I felt
- Exercising at least three times a week for an hour or more
At first, I did not realize the impact these small habits would have. Over time, however, I noticed gradual changes, especially in my mornings, which used to be a struggle for me. I found myself thinking more constructively, even in difficult moments when I would normally react impulsively. Old habits still surface from time to time, but that is part of the process. Growth takes time.
I also noticed my self-confidence growing, which helped me make better decisions and approach situations with greater clarity. As a result, I felt happier, more at ease, and more in control of my daily life. These intentional habits became a pathway to rediscovering myself, helping me gain a deeper understanding of my true likes, dislikes, passions, and interests. They allowed me to break away from autopilot mode and become more present in my journey.
More importantly, as I noticed positive shifts in my mindset and overall well-being, I became more consistent with the things that genuinely brought me joy. I no longer moved through life on autopilot. I embraced each moment, knowing that even the smallest habits were shaping a more confident and fulfilled version of myself.
My Current Morning Routine: A Confidence-Boosting Habit
One of the most impactful habits I have developed is my intentional morning routine. I wake up at 6:00 AM during the week and dedicate the first two hours of my day to self-care and mindfulness.
My routine includes:
- Journaling to reflect and set a positive tone for the day
- Cooking and enjoying a nourishing breakfast
- Completing my self-care routine, including showering, skincare, and oral hygiene
- Moisturizing my skin to feel refreshed and cared for
- Getting dressed in pre-planned outfits for the week
- Packing my lunch while listening to a sermon from The Potter’s House to stay grounded and spiritually aligned
By 8:00 AM, I am out the door and on my way to work, arriving by 8:30 AM.
The best part is that I am not rushing. I leave my house feeling put together, confident, and fully prepared for the day ahead. This structure allows me to show up as my best self mentally, physically, and emotionally. At the end of the day, I return home with a sense of peace, allowing my day to end in tranquility.
Building Your Own Confidence-Boosting Habit
This routine has been a game-changer for me, and I encourage you to start building habits, no matter how small, that help you feel like your most confident self.
To help you answer the question, “What is one small habit you could implement today to build your confidence?” Let’s break it down into guiding steps.
Step 1: Self-Reflection on Confidence
- When do you feel most confident in your daily life?
- What is one area of your life where you currently lack confidence?
Step 2: Identifying Helpful Habits
- What is one small action you have taken in the past that made you feel more confident, even briefly?
- Is there a habit of someone you admire that boosts their confidence?
- If you had five extra minutes in your day just for yourself, how would you use it to feel more self-assured?
Step 3: Making It Actionable
- What is one easy habit you could start today that aligns with building your confidence?
- How can you make this habit simple and achievable so that you stick with it?
- How would practicing this habit consistently make a difference in your confidence over time?
By answering these questions, I hope you gain clarity and feel empowered to choose a meaningful habit to implement today. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
