Called, Not Confined

Hi, lovely readers.

Welcome back to Week Six, Entry Six of Be Brazen w/ Tae. We are now stepping into Month Two of this journey. Can you believe it?

How are you feeling? I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment and share how things have been going so far. Have you been confronting your patterns? Are you making progress toward your self-transformation goals? Have you noticed any positive shifts in your life as you have been tuning in with me? Whether the wins are big or small, I am here to celebrate every step with you.

Exploring Purpose Over Principles

This week, we are diving into the idea of Purpose Over Principles. This concept invites us to understand the difference between rigidly sticking to rules and aligning our actions with our deeper, true purpose.

While principles can serve as valuable moral guidelines, they can become limiting when followed inflexibly. In those moments, they may hinder growth and adaptability, preventing us from making choices that truly serve our higher calling.

I recently faced this dilemma myself. Since December, I have been wrestling with whether to remain in a traditional nine-to-five job, especially after completing my master’s degree, or to fully embrace my entrepreneurial spirit and grow my business. The moral standard of financial security might suggest pursuing a higher-paying position, given my current responsibilities. However, following that rigid principle could require sidelining my passion and long-term fulfillment.

Through reflection, I have learned that balancing immediate needs with a long-term vision requires thoughtful, intentional action rather than blind adherence to fixed rules.

As T.D. Jakes reminds us:
“When your principles overpower your purpose, you miss God. We cannot allow our principles to overpower His purpose. I am not perfect, but I am purposed by God.”

This insight challenges us to let our principles serve as a supportive guide rather than a restrictive force. When our choices align with a greater divine purpose, we create space for authentic growth and fulfillment.

Journal Reflection and Breathwork

Before we dive deeper into today’s concept, I invite you to grab your journal and date your entry. Your first prompt for today is:

What do you believe is your purpose on earth?

To help you settle into this reflection, begin with a grounding breathwork exercise:

  • Find a comfortable seated position, either on a chair or on the floor, with your back straight and shoulders relaxed.
  • Close your eyes if you feel comfortable.
  • Inhale slowly through your nose for four seconds.
  • Hold your breath for four seconds.
  • Exhale slowly through your mouth for six seconds, releasing any tension.
  • Pause for two seconds, then repeat this cycle three to five times until you feel centered.

Once you feel grounded, open your journal and begin exploring your purpose. There are no right or wrong answers, only your truth.

Reflecting on Your God-Given Purpose

Take time to explore your God-given purpose using the following reflection questions:

  • What unique gifts or talents do you believe God has blessed you with, and how might they be used to serve a greater purpose?
  • Can you recall a moment when you felt divine presence or guidance pointing you toward a specific calling?
  • Which passions or interests consistently spark joy and fulfillment, hinting at the purpose God has placed within you?
  • How have your personal challenges or triumphs inspired you to positively impact the lives of others?
  • What legacy do you envision leaving behind, and how does that align with the divine plan you believe God has for you?

Allow your inner voice to guide you as you uncover and embrace your deeper purpose.

A Moment of Wisdom from Proverbs

As I send you off, I would like to acknowledge Proverbs Chapter 3. I encourage you to read this chapter on your own and reflect on what stands out to you. I also want to share a passage that deeply resonated with me.

Proverbs 3:5–6 says:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Verse five reminds us not to rely solely on our own interpretations or rigid principles formed by limited wisdom. Instead, we are called to seek God’s guidance, trusting that He sees the bigger picture and knows the best path for our lives.

Earlier, I discussed how moral guidelines can become limiting when followed inflexibly. When we remain closed to the possibility of a higher purpose, we risk making decisions based solely on human understanding rather than divine wisdom.

Verse six reassures us that when we follow God’s direction, He will remove obstacles from our path and guide us toward our purpose. However, when we rely only on our own judgment, we may encounter unnecessary struggle.

In Conclusion

Lean into calling on God. Ask Him about your purpose, and remain patient as you watch for the signs He provides. This journey is not about rigidly following principles, but about embracing the divine purpose that fuels your growth and transformation.

This concludes Week Six, Entry Six of Be Brazen w/ Tae. Thank you for joining me on this reflective journey. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and insights.

Stay brazen, stay inspired, and keep shining your light.

Be Brazen w/ Tae
